Springwater forest, encompassing 150 hectares, is the most significant of the few remaining tracts of virgin Carolinian forest in Canada. This zone extends from the Toronto - Grand Bend line south to Carolina and contains more endangered species than any other zone in Canada. American Sweet Chestnut, Paw Paw, White Mulberry, Blue Ash, Heart Nut, Sassafras and Tulip trees - all rare Canadian Carolinian trees - can be found throughout the Springwater forest amidst a towering canopy of American Beech, Sugar Maple and White Oak.
