Overview

The Wainfleet Wetland is located in the Township of Wainfleet. This 178.79 hectare (442 acre) site was purchased in 1978 for the purpose of providing a habitat for fish and wildlife and protecting the area wetland and unique open rock history.

This wetland is unique as it attracts a large variety of bird species. There has been 50 different species of bird sighted at Wainfleet. Yellow warblers are the most common, and wading and shorebirds are plentiful. Some of the birds which you are likely to see include the great blue heron, the egret, gulls, terns, and sandpipers.
